FAQ

common questions about Reiki

Reiki is a form of energy healing that is practiced all over the world!

The word "Reiki" is derived from the Japanese words

  • “Rei” = universal wisdom

  • “Ki” = life force energy.

Some people call it Ki, others call it chi, energy, spirit etc. Whatever you call it, it refers to the vital life force energy that flows through all living things.

So, essentially Reiki translates to "spiritually guided life force energy".

Reiki is a graceful and gentle energy that treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit. It is a holistic practice that gets to the root of our problems by healing the source of them. It transcends time and space and works deep within our subconscious.

What is Reiki?

How does Reiki heal?

The benefits of this healing modality are achieved by clearing any energy blockages located within your 7 main chakras (see image below). This is done through using specific Reiki symbols, each of which have specific uses.

Our chakras can become blocked from traumatic experiences; whether we consider them "big" or "small" problems. Nonetheless these blocks prevent "ki" from moving freely, which often creates suffering (ie pain, anxiousness, lack of sleep/focus).

By clearing and cleansing any stagnant energy, you open up so many beautiful possibilities of higher vibrational living, aka living your best life!

How do you do distanced sessions work?

Reiki transcends time and space. So one can send Reiki Energy ANYWHERE in the world so long as they have the recipients consent. As Reiki Practitoners we are attuned to a symbol called Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen (pictured to the right) which is used speificially for distanced healing. Lots of people ask if distanced sessions are just as powerful as in-person sessions, the answer is yes!

Do I have to be spiritual to do Reiki?

The answer is no. You don't have to be spiritual BUT you must be open-minded and willing to accept healing. Reiki works hand-in-hand with the concept of free will. Therefore without your consent, the energy cannot work with you.

What do I do after my session?

Integration is so important. I will discuss this with you after your session and be available through email or call for further support. Give yourself some time after your session. Go for a walk in nature, have some me-time, be mindful of how you feel. I will guide you through this process and give you some tips. Also, drink plenty of water!
